Some Words from the Artist

Welcome to my site. At all the major outdoor markets on Vancouver Island I've met and sold my pieces to people from around the world. Once they return home, they tell me how much they appreciate their piece and are anxious to see what is upcoming. So I'm delighted to have this website to share my work.

My work is always evolving. If this is the first time you have viewed my work, I'll tell you a little bit about me, my material and my pieces.

My interest in art and observing and studying wildlife started in my childhood and grew until most of my spare time was spent making things with whatever was at hand - fibre, wood, metal, and finally clay.

After the birth of my son, I took more seriously the possibility of selling some of my creations. With the support of some local galleries who eagerly encouraged me and agreed to carry my work, I was able to establish myself as a professional artist.

Since then, I have had extensive experience working in metal, stoneware and other high-fire clays such as porcelain. But I am not loyal to one or another material, preferring the most suited to the piece I have in mind.

I find clay an awesome medium, because I am able to sculpt directly onto the natural object such as stone, wood or metal I am incorporating into the piece for a perfect fit. This is essential for my recent "wearable art" jewellery that I am currently developing and am very excited about. See my photo above for an example of my Python neckpiece that has generated a lot of interest.

With my wildlife art, literal representation is an important component, but only a stepping-stone. By using colour, texture and various finishing techniques I am able to take my art to another level.
